
The Government is proposing to make it easier for people in rural Ireland to build a second home on family land.
Draft new planning guidelines going before Cabinet today, would allow homeowners build a one-off house on the same site.
Donegal County Council regularly passes motions calling for people to be allowed build on family land, saying such a measure could be vital in the quest to save local schools and other facilities by allowing people stay in rural areas rather than live in towns.
Junior Planning Minister John Cummins, says it forms part of a wider overhaul of planning policy for rural and Gaeltacht communities…….
