Appeal lodged over life sentence in Danielle McLaughlin murder case


The man convicted of killing and raping Donegal woman Danielle McLaughlin in India has lodged an appeal against his life sentence.

Danielle McLaughlin was 28 when she was attacked while travelling in Goa in March 2017.

Her family have campaigned for justice for years.

Vikat Bhagat was handed a life sentence last February.

The 31-year-old has now applied to appeal that sentence, with a hearing in India understood to have been adjourned today.
