Significant US influence in Belfast riot commentary – new research

A significant amount of US accounts shared information on X about the Belfast riots in June, according to a new analysis.

The Guardian found seven of the most read tweets about the disorder came from American accounts, with just 4 point 5 per cent linked to Ireland.

The unrest at the beginning of June was sparked by a serious knife attack in the city, with nearly one in 10 posts about the incident containing calls for violence or paramilitary action.
