Ferry passengers on routes between Ireland and Britain will have to carry a valid passport from the end of next month.
From September 28th other forms of ID will not be accepted.
Irish Ferries and Stena Line have updated their travel requirements to reflect the UK border force requirements.
Both companies are urging people booked on services to Holyhead or Pembroke to check their passport or passport card is valid and in-date.
