A woman whose brother was shot dead by the British army in May 1972 has has called for the PSNI’s Chief Constable to be sacked in light of the findings of a report into the Historical Enquiries Team.
Helen Deery’s brother Manus was shot dead by a British soldier firing from Derry’s Walls on May 19 1972 – she says she is now withdrawing all co-operation from police investigations.
In a report this week, the HET was found to be illegally investigating deaths involving army soldiers with less rigour than cases with no state involvement.
