Gardai renew appeals for information into Bundoran hit-and-run

Gardai have renewed appeals for information into the hit-and-run outside Bundoran last weekend.
48-tear-old Alan McSherry was killed after he was hit by a vehicle while walking home in the early hours of Sunday morning last.
Inspector Dennis Joyce, who is in charge of the investigation, asked taxi-drivers along with club and hotel workers who would usually go home in the early hours to try to remember anything remotely unusual in the collision area last Sunday.
He tated he is specifically interested in the time slot between 4.30
a.m. and 5.15 a.m.
There is evidence that 48-year-old maintenance man Alan
McSherry was last seen walking close to the collision site about a
kilometre from his home at 4.40 a.m.
Mr McSherry was found by his wife on a dark country
road at 5.10 a.m.
Inspector Joyce recalled that as last weekend was a bank
holiday weekend in Northern Ireland there might have been some
late-night revellers travelling the back road from Bundoran to the
North.
He also noted night-time hotel and club staff, including bouncers, would have been homeward-bound at that time. He said  he was appealing to anybody who was out at that time to try to remember the least little unusual incident that they may not have recalled so far.
He added theywould also appeal to the driver to come forward as there is no point in him or her hoping the tragedy would go away and be forgotten about.
Mr McSherry lived for 13 years with his wife in Bundoran because they both loved surfing.
His remains were returned on Friday for cremation to his native
Birkenhead, near Liverpool.
