Derry City footballer Rory Patterson has been charged with assault.
It’s understood the charge relates to an incident in Derry last December.
The case came before Derry Magistrates Court yesterday where it was adjourned until later this month.
29-year-old, Rory Patterson, whose address was given in Court as Oakfield Mews in Derry, is charged with assaulting a man occasioning actual bodily harm.
The offence allegedly took place on December 10, 2012.
The matter was adjourned until September 30 when it is expected that Patterson will appear before the Court to put on his plea.
Patterson is currently top scorer in the League of Ireland, having scored 23 goals in all competitions this season.
