IMF to visit Ireland ‘every six months’

The IMF says it will continue to make routine visits to Ireland in the years after it exits the bailout.
The fund says it will visit Ireland every six months to give its advice on Irish financial policies.
It says it is part of its usual operations to make sure Ireland repays the 22 billion euro it has borrowed under the bailout deal.
Mission director Craig Beaumont says it is nothing unusual that the IMF would keep coming to Ireland once the bailout has ended.
“Because Ireland has substantial resources outstanding from the IMF, there will also be a short interim visit” he said.
“We will be here every six months as a sort of a discussion on the appropriateness of policies in a completely normal fashion” he added.
