Eight people have been killed in a two car collision in Inishowen.
The two car collision happened at Glasmullen, on the Buncrana to Clonmany road, at around twenty to eleven last night.
Gardai say seven occupants of a black Volkswagen Passat along with the driver of a second car a red Toyota Corolla were killed in the crash. The driver of the Passat was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital with serious injuries.
The eight occupants of the Passat ranged in ages from their late teens to their early twenties. The driver of the Corolla was a man in his 60s.
None of those who lost their lives have yet been named, but we understand the dead were from Clonmany, Buncrana and Fahan.
Gardai are investigating reports of the black Passat having been involved in an earlier separate collision, some minutes prior to the fatal collision.
The road has been closed off for a technical examination, and is expected to remain closed all day.
