Funerals of crash victims begin in Inishowen

Inishowen will fall silent today, as three of the eight funerals of the men who died in Sundays horrific road accident take place.
The first of the funerals, that of 66-year-old Hugh Friel, will take place at St Michaels Church in Urris, Clonmany at 10 o clock this morning. He was the sole occupant of a red Toyota Corolla which was in collision with the black Volkswagen Passat which contained the eight young men.
Mr Friel was returning home after playing bingo in Buncrana.
The second funeral, that of 21-year-old Mark McLaughlin, will take place at St Muras Church, Fahan at 11 o clock this morning. The third funeral, that of 21-year-old PJ McLaughlin, will take place this afternoon at St Muras Church, Fahan at 3 o clock.
Meanwhile, Cecil Doherty – the uncle of 19 year old Paul Doherty – says the whole community is devastated by the tragedy.
And he says the victims are being unfairly portrayed


The remaining five funerals, those of 19-year-olds Paul Doherty and Ciaran Sweeney, 21-year-old Damien McLaughlin, 22-year-old Eamon McDaid and 23-year-old James McElaney will take place tomorrow and Friday.
