A new opinion poll for the European elections has found Sinn Fein’s Matt Carthy leading the way in the Midlands Northwest constituency.
500 voters were polled in each of the the constituency on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.
In the Midlands North-West, the poll shows that Fianna Fáil could lose out to two independents.
Sinn Fein’s Matt Carthy is on 19 per cent, followed by independent Luke Ming Flanagan on 15. Fine Gael’s Mairead McGuinness has 13%, while the sitting independent Marian Harkin follows on 12.
Fianna Fáil’s Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher is on 10%, with his running mate Thomas Byrne on 9.
