Donegal Senator Cecilia Keavney says it’s important that the power of music and the arts be harnessed to promote peace.
She was speaking at the Border Crossings event in Letterkenny last night, the first of five projects led by An Grianán Theatre supported by Peace III. Over the past two weeks, young people from the Irish and Ulster Scots traditions in Donegal and Tyrone worked together at An Grianan and in the Alley Theatre in Strabane.
Senator Keavney says music can be a divisive, and even a threatening force, but the work done in Letterkenny and Strabane over the past fortnight is a hugely important counterbalance to that.
She says at present, such initiatives are vital………..
