Letterkenny town council urged to support purchase of army barracks

Letterkenny Town Council is being asked to support county council attempts to take ownership of the former army barracks in Rockhill and Lifford.
County Manager Michael Mc Loone has already begun a series of consultations with the Department of Defence with a view towards securing ownership of both facilities.
Tonight, Cllr Dessie Larkin will ask the town council to become involved in buying Rockhill House and surrounding lands.
He says it would be unrealistic for the department to seek a large sum of money for the facility, and that could work in the councils’ favour.
