Udaras board warns of severe budgetary pressures

The Board of Údarás na Gaeltachta says it’s capacity to create jobs will be greatly diminished next year as a result of budget cuts.
Following a weekend meeting, the board says its budget is being cut from €15 million this year to €6 million in 2011.
According to the government, a further €6.2m is to be funded from the organisation’s own resources, including a target income of €2m from the sale of assets and shares.
Donegal Údará Board Member Cllr Padraig O’Dochertaigh says 55 new projects involving a total of almost €3m in state funding were approved on Friday, with193 new jobs on the cards across the country.
However, he says next year will be a very difficult one………..
