Fire officer could of been blinded after Derry attack

A fireman has been taken to hospital with glass in his eyes after the engine he was driving came under attack in Derry last night.
The crew was responding to reports of a fire at a school on the Elagh Road in Ballymagrarty when they were pelted with bricks and bottles at around 2030.
The driver managed to maintain control of his vehicle, but that the crew decided to withdraw.
Assisstant Area Commander Colin McGuigan, says this attack could have  left a fire officer blind:
