Derry will be Ireland’s first fully digital city; Northwest region to gain

Letterkenny Town Council has been told that part of the legacy of Derry’s UK City of Culture designation will be an unparalleled digital infrastructure.
During a presentation this week, Aideen Mc Ginley, the CEO of the regeneration company ILEX said Letterkenny IT is involved in a bid to bring significant investment to the Fort George campus in Derry and the CoLab centre in Letterkenny.
She said an investment by BT in providing open high speed broadband access right across Derry means the city will be the first in these islands to fully digital.
Aideen Mc Ginley says this demonstrates the extent to which City of Culture will change the whole North West region far beyond 2013:
