Plans have been unveiled for a Urban Mountain Bike Hill Race in Letterkenny in May, the first time such an event has been held in the country.
The Donegal Mountain Bike Club wants to hold a 200 competitor event on the May Bank Holiday Monday, using a route from St Eunan’s College to Pearse Road going through the Cathedral car park, Market Square and the steps at the side of the Courtyard Shopping Centre.
The club presented their plans to Letterkenny Town Council this week, and received the council’s backing. They’ll now meet with council staff to tease out a traffic management plan.
Club Spokesperson Findhin Strain says this has the potential to be a unique event……….
