Deputy Pearse Doherty supports ‘Anglo – not our debt’ protests

A small number of demonstrators have gathered outside the headquarters of the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation – formally Anglo Irish Bank – to protest at the payment of 1.2-billion euro to bondholders at the bank.
The government has defended the payment – due to be made on Wednesday saying that burning the bondholders would have greater financial implications for the country.
The Transport minister Leo Varadkar said yesterday that failure to make the payment would set off a financial bomb in Ireland.
