Man injured in paramilitary style shooting in Derry

A man’s been injured in a paramilitary style shooting in Derry.
The incident occurred in the Corrib Court area of the city last night.
Police say that at approximately 11.40pm, they received a report that a 42 year old man had been shot in the left leg by a man that is described as being approximately 6ft tall and was wearing a balaclava and dark clothing.
The 42 year old man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injury which is not believed to be life threatening.
L0cal councillor Eric Mc Ginley says it appears the man was shot “by appointment”, and this is the second such shooting in the area in a month.
Police are urging anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area around 11 o’clock last night to contact CID in Strand Road Police Station on the non emergency number 101. They can also contact Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
