The Federation of Irish Fishermen is calling on Minister Coveney to reverse the Commission’s proposed cuts in a number of key Irish stocks at the Fisheries Council in Brussels next week.
Them group says the cuts are neither justified nor warranted and will if adopted next week will result in 500 to 600 full and part-time jobs losses in the fisheries sector and ancillary services.
The resulting direct and indirect financial losses are approximately €78 million.
FIF spokesperson Sean O’Donoghue says 40% of the losses will be in the Northwest….
