Paul McIver’s Derry side set up an Ulster U21 quarter-final against Monaghan with a deserved victory over Down on Wednesday night.
The Oak Leaf county were 2-12 to 1-11 winners at Celtic Park.
Niall Toner’s goal had Derry 1-3 to 0-0 up in the opening fives while Niall Mc Laughlin top scored with 1-4 and Terence O’Brien pointed 3 scores.
Donegal and Tyrone play their quarter finals next Wednesday against Cavan and Fermanagh.
