The conviction of a doctor, originally from Strabane for assaulting police in Derry after a Christmas night out has been affirmed after she withdrew her appeal.
Dr Eireann Kerr, 33 from Marlborough Park South in Belfast was convicted of committing four offences of assault and resisting inside Derry’s Strand Road Police Headquarters.
Dr Kerr was convicted of the offences even though the court was told that there were traces of the date rape drug GHB in her system and that it was believed her drink had been spiked.
The offences occured following a Christmas works party night out with medical colleagues on 13 December, 2013.
The doctor was sentenced to a two month conditional discharge.
She had lodged an appeal against conviction and sentence but at today’s sitting of Derry Crown Court a barrister for Dr. Kerr said that with the court’s permission the appeal was being withdrawn.
Judge Philip Babington said that the conviciton then was affirmed.
The doctor was not in court for the hearing.
