Cork City are through to the FAI Cup semi-finals.
The Leesiders under the captaincy of Ballybofey’s Johnny Dunleavy beat Derry City 3-0 in the quarter-final replay at Turners Cross.
Second-half goals in the final fifteen minutes from Ross Gaynor, Garry Buckley and John O’Flynn put the home side through to meet Bray Wanderers.
Just before Cork’s first goal, Derry hit the post as Philip Lowry thumped the woodwork, and the follow up from Mark Timlin was saved by the Cork keeper.
The scoreline probably wasn’t a true reflection on the game but Cork did deserve the victory and a place in the next round.
