The number of patients awaiting admission on trolleys or on wards fell in May, according to new figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
The INMO says the month saw a 14 per cent national reduction on the same month last year.
At Letterkenny University Hospital, the percentage fall was 59%, from 93 in May 2015 to 38 last month.
The INMO says the national decline can be put down to the new management plan that’s been agreed with the HSE and the improved weather.
