A Derry City and Strabane District Councillor Patsy Kelly says he stands by his claim that people from Donegal are crossing the border to dump their rubbish at the new facility at Pennyburn in Derry.
He claimed at a meeting this week that up to 40% of the cars using the facility have southern registrations, and the people of Derry and Strabane should not be expected to pay for that.
Cllr Kelly’s comments were criticised by a number of other members, but he remains adamant that this is the case, and checks such as CCTV cameras are needed………….
