Cope calls for suspension of controversial waste charges

A Donegal Deputy is calling on the Minister for Housing Simon Coveney to suspend the introduction of the new bin charges.

It has been claimed that waste companies are taking advantage of the new laws and that some are looking for a price increase of up to 200 per cent.
Following a meeting last night on the issue, Mr Coveney’s spokesperson said the minister supported the scheme in theory, and would endeavour to try and keep the costs down for people.
