Government must act speedily on Child Medical Card commitment – Cope

The Minister for Health has agreed to extend automatic medical cards to all disabled children where families are in receipt of domiciliary care allowance.
Simon Harris announced the law change in a late sitting of the Dáil last night.
The Government originally planned to award the cards to around 10-thousand children after the budget, but Minister Harris made his announcement after a Sinn Féin motion to speed up the process received cross-party support yesterday.
The Leas Ceann Comhairle, Donegal TD Pat the Cope Gallagher, was in the chair for the debate, and so could not contribute.
This morning, he told Highland Radio News he wants the government to act on this commitment as soon as the Dail reconvenes in September…………..
