Tyrone captain Sean Cavanagh has called for action to stamp out the targeting of top players in inter-county games.
Cavanagh revealed that he had made repeated appeals to linesmen and umpires for protection, prior to being sent off in Saturday’s All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Mayo.
His controversial first booking followed a tussle on the ground with marker Lee Keegan moments before the start of the second half.
He said: “ It has been happening for a long time in our game, and in my opinion it’s probably something that needs to be stamped out of the game.”
