First anniversary of Brexit vote to be marked at Stormont

As Border Communities Against Brexit prepare to mark the first anniversary of the Brexit vote with a demonstration at Stormont, EU leaders are continuing a two-day summit in Brussels today.
Last night, British Prime Minister Theresa May sought to allay the fears of EU citizens living in the UK, saying any EU citizen in the UK with five years residence, no later than the UK’s exit from the EU, will be granted UK settled status.
In a move thought to be important amid anxieties over the impact of Brexit, European leaders said they took note of Mrs. May’s offer of clarity to EU citizens but pointed out that Council meetings are not the forum for Brexit negotiations.
Meanwhile the summit continues today. Taosieach Leo Varadkar will continue to have meetings with his counterparts including German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
