Children affected by flooding in North may be eligible for financial support

Derry City and Strabane District Council says families with young children who were affected by August’s floods may be eligible for special financial support.
The council says it’s been working in close partnership with a number of community organisations to identify potential small grants assistance for families affected by the recent floods across the North West.
The council says people may benefit from a fund, administered through Buttle Trust UK, who focus on emergency assistance to children.
The trust says it can offer limited small grant assistance to families with children under the age of 18 or young people under the age of 20 who live alone, have no contents insurance, and were affected by the recent floods.
The council is urging people who may be eligible to contact its Community services section for advice and help in making applications.
The help is available though a number of centres, including Drumahoe, Dove House, the Greater Shantallow Area Partnership and RAPID, the Rural Area Partnership in Derry.
