Niall Horan’s debut album Flicker debuts at Number One in US

Niall Horan’s debut album Flicker has debuted at number one in America.
The Mullingar native (24) joins his former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles and Zayn Malik in having an album reach the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
One Direction are the only band since The Beatles where three members have had solo albums make it to number one on the chart.
According to Nielson music, the album sold 152,000 equivalent unit sales during the week ending October 28.
Niall’s album is a distinct departure from the teen pop sound that made One Direction into global superstars.
The singer has opted for a more folk sound for his solo effort, citing artists like Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles as influences on his new sound.
Niall took to social media to give his thanks to fans for the achievement, saying his mind was “completely blown”.
“An album that I wrote has gone to #1 in the United States and I cannot thank you guys enough for supporting it,” he wrote.
“To get a No.1 album in the US with Flicker is simply amazing. I’m very happy! I spent a long time recording this and it’s very personal to me, so I’m overwhelmed at the reaction.
“This couldn’t have come at a better time, as I start my US tour [tonight] in Philadelphia. I can’t wait to tour the world again in 2018 and perform the songs for everyone.”
