Man charged after drug seizure in Derry


Police in Derry have charged a 41 year old man following the seizure of drugs in Derry.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch seized an estimated £150,000 worth of cocaine after a car was stopped by police in the city last Thursday.
The Class A drugs were seized after a Grey Volvo was stopped by police and the driver, a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs in the Clooney Road area of Derry last Thursday.
Police seized the suspected cocaine during a follow-up search at a house in the Birch Hill Meadows area of Antrim as well as the examination of the car.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Foster said: “This is a significant seizure of drugs and I am delighted such a huge amount of drugs has been taken off our streets. This seizure means that lives have been saved.
The man is due to appear at Londonderry Magistrates’ Court today.
