The Lough Swilly RNLI are urging swimmers to be cautious, after two people got into difficulty at Ludden Beach in Buncrana yesterday.
It’s believed that the swimmers were rescued by an onlooker after a life ring was thrown into the water.
No injuries were reported, but the RNLI have warned of the dangers of swimming at a low tide – and that yesterday could have produced a very different outcome.
They said with the various storms taking place on the Atlantic at this time of year, dramatic shifts in the sand can take place on beaches, making it unsafe to swim at lower tides.
