We need someone directly responsible for the management of hospital waiting lists.
That’s the view of the Director of the Irish Patients Association after figures revealed that one in four people in Ireland are waiting for hospital, diagnostic or therapy treatment.
The Irish Hospitals Consultants Association recently revealed that Letterkenny University Hospital and Sligo University Hospital combined have over 45,000 people on waiting lists for assessment or treatment by a Hospital Consultant, that’s up 37% since 2015. Meanwhile the numbers waiting for inpatient or day case treatment has increased by 57% over the same period.
