Gardai in Donegal are urging motorists to continue to adhere to the temporary speed limit in place on one of the main arteries into Letterkenny.
Due to ongoing road works on the Four Lane route the speed limit has been reduced to 50 km/h.
Yesterday, while conducting speed checks on the road, the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit detected a number of drivers speeding at double the temporary speed limit.
Gardai say fixed charge penalty notices were issued for the offences.
They are asking drivers to slow down to protect themselves, other motorists and passengers and to protect those who are conducting the road works.
