BREAKING: Jeffrey Donaldson resigns as DUP leader amid sexual offence charges

Jeffrey Donaldson has stepped down as leader of the DUP.

It’s after the PSNI charged a man with historical sexual offences.

Police in the north have said a 61-year-old man has been charged with historical sex offences.

A woman, who is 57, will be in the dock alongside him and is facing counts of aiding and abetting.

The pair are due to appear at court in Newry on April 24th.

In a letter to the DUP, Jeffrey Donaldson confirmed he is the man accused as part of the investigation.

Gavin Robinson has been appointed as Interim party leader.

Jeffrey Donaldson has been leader of the DUP since 2021.
