€31 million wastewater infrastructure upgrade in Buncrana, Ballybofey and Stranorlar progressing

Works on a €31 million project to upgrade wastewater infrastructure in Buncrana, Ballybofey and Stranorlar Sewerage Scheme are progressing.

Uisce Eireann says the sewerage scheme is a significant development for the towns of Buncrana, Ballybofey and Stranorlar, which will see knock-on benefits to the local natural environment of Lough Swilly and the River Finn, as well as supporting the social and economic development of the towns.

In order to safely facilitate a water main diversion to allow for new sewer construction on Cockhill Road water supply will be switched off from 6pm this evening until 2am tomorrow morning.
Cockhill Road, Tullyarvan, Ballymacarry, Ardarava, Cleenagh, Upper and Lower Ballymagan, Clonblosk and surrounding areas will be impacted.

The utility is advising that it could take a number of hours for normal supply to return to all customers as water refills the network, especially those on higher ground or at the end of the network.
