Paul Hegarty has turned down the chance to manage Derry City on a permanent basis, it has been reported.
Hegarty took over from Peter Hutton as City flirted with relegation. An immediate pick up in results saw Derry climbing the table to safety.
Many observers felt he would be in line for the job for next season.
However, following a meeting with club chairman, Philip O’Doherty, he has reportedly turned down the position, citing “personal reasons” according to the Derry Now website.
Former Manchester United players Andrei Kanchelskis and Pat McGibbon are said to be those who have expressed an interest in the post.
