Arkinson inquest told RUC Chief Constable ordered search of sister’s home

The inquest into the death of Arlene Arkinson has been told that a decision to carry out a search of her sister’s back garden was taken by ther then Chief Copnstable of the RUC Sir Hugh Annesely.
Two years after Arlene disappeared after attending a disco in Bundoran in 1994, , police searched and dug up parts of her sister’s house and garden looking for the body. Nothing was found.
Former Senior Detective Eric Anderson said Sir Hugh ordered the search based on information from a “pillar of society”.
Mr Anderson, who gave evidence by video from his home, said he had burnt his notes after 10 years, saying there was no provision within the RUC to store notes.
