It’s another big day for Donegal competitors at the Olympic Games in Rio.
Letterkenny’s Sinead Jennings and Mark English will both see action later with Jennings involved in an Olympic final.
Along with her partner Claire Lambe, the 39 year old will pilot the Irish boat in the women’s lightweight double sculls decider.
The pair qualified by taking third in their semi final on Thursday and they will be in lane six for this afternoons medal race which starts at 2.30pm.
Speaking ahead of the big race, Sinead Lynch says that while it’s great for her to get to this stage on a personal level, she’s more focused about creating a legacy for the sport in Ireland….
On the track later, Mark English begins his campaign in Rio at 2.50pm this afternoon.
The UCD student goes in the first round of the 800m.
It’s a first games for Mark who missed out on London four years ago by just 0.17 of a second but since then he won European outdoor bronze and indoor silver medals but now the big stage beckons for the Letterkenny man…
