Two Demi Lovato gigs cancelled after hospitalisation

Two performances by Demi Lovato have been cancelled as the singer recovers from a suspected overdose.
The 25-year-old was taken to hospital in Los Angeles for a medical emergency on Tuesday (July 24).
She was scheduled to appear at the Atlantic City Beachfest in New Jersey on Thursday (July 26), but the organisers have confirmed that the show will not be going ahead.
“Demi’s Atlantic City appearance on 7/26 has been canceled in light of today’s news,” they tweeted.

The American star was also due to perform alongside singer-songwriter Jason Mraz at a charity gig in Toronto, Canada on Sunday, but organisers said it will not go ahead.
Live Nation tweeted the news and said tickets will be automatically refunded.
Mraz wrote on Twitter: “Dear Friends, Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not be playing in Toronto this weekend. My sincerest apologies to my fans and to the fans of Demi Lovato.
“We wish her good health & recovery.”

The news comes after Lovato was taken to a Los Angeles hospital after being found unconscious at her home in the Hollywood Hills on Tuesday, according to NBC.
A spokesperson told NBC the star was “awake and with her family” and warned that “some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy”.
After news of her being taken to hospital broke, the hashtag #PrayForDemi started trending on Twitter and stars including Ariana Grande, Joe Jonas and Ellen DeGeneres tweeted messages of support.
