A former school principal from Donegal has been sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for stealing €204,000 from his former school.
According to Radio na Gaeltachta, it comes after the suspended sentence imposed in March 2018 was deemed too lenient.
39 year old Finbarr Boyle with an address in Ballybofey, pleaded guilty to five counts of theft and two counts of forgery while he was principal at Kilnaleck National School in Co Cavan between 2007 and 2012.
He was said to have spent the money he stole on golf equipment and holidays.
The Court of Appeal has found Boyle’s sentence handed down in March last year to be “unduly lenient”.
