Man had part of ear bit off during Tyrone GAA crowd trouble

Police are investigating an assault during crowd trouble at a GAA match in County Tyrone on Sunday in which a man had part of his ear bitten off.
The trouble happened during the Tyrone county football league final between Carrickmore and Dromore at  Dunmoyle.
A mass brawl broke out on the field in the closing minutes of the game and violence then erupted in the stands with several people involved.
Police said a complaint about the ear biting was received on Tuesday.
According to the Ulster Herald newspaper the injured man is in his 40s and from Carrickmore.
It said he was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital where he was told there was little could be done.
However, surgeons at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald were able to reattach the severed part of the ear during a procedure on Monday, although it is still not clear if the operation will be a success.
On Tuesday, Tyrone GAA chiefs urged those involved in the violence to own up to their roles in the disturbances.
