City of Derry Rugby Club were beaten in the first leg of their relegation play off against Clonmel on Saturday afternoon.
It finished 33-17 to the hosts in the game after Derry had led 17-12 at half time.
The result now means City of Derry must win by 17 points in the second leg to secure their All Ireland Division 2c status for next year.
