The Chair of the Friends of Lifford Hospital hopes long term beds will eventually be provided in the town.
Initial plans for the new Lifford Community Hospital does not include long stay care.
It emerged last month that a 3.5 acre site on the outskirts of Lifford has been identified to house the new hospital and a Primary Care Centre.
