Finn Valley’s Kay Byrne has won gold at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Torun Poland.
Kay who was competing in the W60 category won the 8km cross country race in a superb time of 36 minutes and 46 seconds, finishing 21 seconds ahead of her Irish team mate Pauline Moran who was the first W65 competitor home.
Ireland, lead out by Byrne, would also take team gold in the race.
On Sunday, Kay also ran the 3000m where she finished in 5th position.
Also on Monday, Tir Chonaill’s Shane Toolan missed out on a semi final spot in the indoor 60m sprint while Finn Valley’s Sinead McConnell will compete in the 3k race walk.
