Only one new roads policing officer appointed in Donegal in 2025

An Garda Síochána has missed its roads policing recruitment targets for the second consecutive year.

In Donegal, only one appointment was made last year to the county’s roads policing units, with the officer assigned to Milford.

Nationally, 56 members were appointed to roads policing duties in 2025, despite a requirement for 127 to meet operational commitments.

Junior Transport Minister Sean Canney, however, says Gardaí are out there, even if you don’t see them:
