
A Donegal TD has called on the national media to investigate the influence the ‘Big 5’ fishing corporations have on the EU.
Speaking during statements on fishing quotas, Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn again claimed these corporations were central to the decision to set aside the Hague Preferences in December, effectively removing a mechanism designed to ensure Ireland had a fair deal.
Calling on Taoiseach Michael Martin to do more to represent Ireland’s interests, Cllr MacLochlainn told the Dail that Germany, France, Poland and the Netherlands had not only betrayed Ireland, but also what should be key principles of the Common Fisheries Policy……..
