Pipe laying project to begin in Rathmullan

Uisce Eireann says its customers in Rathmullan should experience fewer bursts and supply interruptions on foot of a pipe replacement programme beginning this week.

More than a kilometre of old water mains will be replaced along Chapel Road, Kinnegar.

The utility says this project is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the local network, and make sure Rathmullan has a water supply it can depend on.

As well as the laying of new pipes on Chapel Road, they says the works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply.

They say traffic management arrangements will be clearly signposted, and access for local residents and businesses will be maintained at all times.

Farrans Construction will deliver the project on behalf of Uisce Éireann with completion of the upgrade expected in late summer.

UE statement in full –

In the coming days, Uisce Éireann will be getting to work on upgrades in Rathmullan that will make day to day water services a lot more reliable for everyone.

We will be replacing more than a kilometre of old water mains with brand new, modern pipes along Chapel Road, Kinnegar. That means fewer bursts, fewer interruptions, and a more dependable supply for homes and businesses right across the community.

It’s all part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the local network and make sure Rathmullan has a water supply it can depend on.

The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply. Traffic management arrangements will be clearly signposted, and access for local residents and businesses will be maintained at all times.

Speaking about the project, Patricia Lowry, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: “These works in Rathmullan will replace old and damaged water mains that have been susceptible to bursts, helping to deliver a more reliable water supply for the local community. By investing in essential upgrades like this, we are reducing the risk of unplanned outages and ensuring a more resilient network for the future.”

Farrans Construction will deliver this important project on behalf of Uisce Éireann with completion of the upgrade expected in late summer.
