The number of children in classes of 35 pupils or more has increased.
Figures collated by the irish Independent show so-called ‘super-sized’ classes rose by 450 in the last academic year, to over 2,200 nationwide. There are three such classes in Donegal.
Classes of 30 or more are regarded as ‘overcrowded’, with Donegal returning the third highest proportion of overcrowded classes in the state at 13.2%.
Leitrim was the highest at 22.9%, three times the national average.
